First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hope College.
Office Manager
I was in a room with 6 people who had a list of questions. They were all nice and it wasn't too stressful.
- How would you make sure students felt welcome and included in the office?
Resident Assistant
It was really tough, they hit me with tons of questions about diversity and also lots about community involvement and school involvement. They also asked about reliability. Plus, they threw in some questions specific to the role.
- How do you handle diversity?
- What about your involvement in the school?
- Tell me about your community involvement.
Student Researcher
To apply for a summer research position, you have to submit an application and essay in SHARP, and list your top professor choices. The professors then pick their top candidates. For example, if a student has worked with a professor before and listed them as their top choice, they'll likely be placed with that professor. This process continues. Students who applied online but didn't talk to any professors in person won't get research positions.
- I wrote a one-page essay about my motivation for research and my suitability as a researcher.
Human Resource Generalist
The interview process was really welcoming and informative. I got to meet the whole HR department and some other staff too. I felt really comfortable with everyone and appreciated how kind they were.
- What relevant experience do you have?
- What is your motivation for wanting to join Hope?
