Graphic Designer
I was reached out to for an interview, and I responded pretty quickly. It took about a week to hear back to get the interview scheduled. When the interview finally happened, the person interviewing me didn't turn their camera on and seemed totally checked out. They said I'd get an update by the end of the next week, but they never even sent a rejection email, just went completely silent.
- Tell me about your background.
Executive Assistant
I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn and had an interview the very next day. The first part was a 45-minute virtual chat on Zoom with another recruiter and the office manager. The office manager was great, but the recruiter was new and didn't have much experience. I was told later that day I'd move to the next stage, which involved a 2-hour Microsoft Word and Excel skills test (an hour for each). The day after finishing the tests, the recruiter called to set up a third interview, also on Zoom, happening the same day and lasting an hour. This time I met with the current EA I would be replacing and another former EA. They were both quite cold, making the whole interview feel really awkward and closed off, despite my best efforts to connect. A few days later, I followed up with the recruiter for an update, but they never bothered to reply or let me know they weren't proceeding. It's pretty rude to put someone through hours of interviews and tests only to ghost them, especially for a law firm that claims to be professional. I think the fourth round would have been an in-person meeting with the executive I'd be supporting.
- Can you describe how you manage stressful situations?
- Tell me about a time you had to juggle multiple competing priorities.
Associate Attorney
It was the typical two-stage process for new associates at big law firms, but it didn't start with OCI. First, there was a screening interview, just me and the lead associate recruiter. They quickly asked me back for another interview. This callback interview involved six attorneys from different practice groups and levels, meeting me in pairs or one-on-one over a few hours.
- We want to know about your ties to this area.
Manager
The first interview was with two people. The second was a lunch interview. The third interview was an all-day event with 12 different people. I had to chase them multiple times to find out where they were in the process. It was pretty slow. Apparently, for this company and department, it was fast. It took three months from when I first asked about it to when I got an offer.
- Do you know anyone at other law firms?
