First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hometap.
Investment Manager
The interview process at Hometap was truly top-notch. I was highly impressed by how thoughtful and thorough each step was...from my initial conversation with the recruiter to my final interview with the Director of Sales. What stood out most throughout the entire process was the emphasis on company culture and the clear commitment to putting customers first. I felt an immediate connection to Hometap, as their values closely aligned with my own. Overall it was a five-star experience!
- Given your extensive management experience, what makes you interested in an Individual Contributor role?
Investment Manager
I found HomeTap's interview process to be incredibly absurd, ridiculous, and a complete waste of my time throughout my career. Out of the five people I interviewed with, only one was punctual. Four out of five were late to our scheduled interviews and didn't even acknowledge being over five minutes late, which struck me as highly unprofessional. This was just one of many annoyances with their process. Beyond that, it involved over five interviews for a position they labeled as 'investment manager' but was actually entry-level. Abigail "Abbi" Jackson seemed to constantly have "emergencies," leading to interview reschedules with absolutely no prior notice! This lack of professionalism was consistent with other reviews I'd seen, some dating back over a year. Despite these red flags, I continued with the remaining five interviews, assuming I'd get the offer since I was vastly overqualified. However, after a week and a half, Abbi informed me I didn't receive an offer, and no feedback was provided. HomeTap really needs to overhaul their interview structure, emphasize punctuality and professionalism, and stop wasting candidates' time in this job market. I definitely wouldn't recommend interviewing with them.
- What would you do in a scenario where a customer is unable to secure an investment?
Investment Manager
There were 4 interviews total along with a mock call. The first was a standard phone screen with the recruiter. The second was a zoom meeting with the sales director who ultimately made the decision to move you forward to meet the team or not. I was invited to meet two sales managers via zoom at different times. One of the interviews was 45 minutes to accommodate the mock call. All three video interviews were super relaxed and conversational. It sounded like they just wanted to ensure that they had the right person for the team/culture. Although, I felt like these interviews went well, I did not receive an offer and no feedback as to why.
