Had an interview that started with a phone call where we chatted for about 40 minutes about marketing stuff and what the job would involve. The whole thing was pretty chill and straightforward.

So the CEO's office reviewed my application and then the Director reached out to me directly to set up an interview. I had to fill out a questionnaire first, which I emailed over. Then, on the same day, I interviewed with the Director and a Manager. They both mentioned that the role I applied for was actually a bit below my experience level but that they planned to promote me pretty soon after hiring. I ended up getting called back for a second interview, and that's when I had to do a skills test. The promotion they mentioned actually happened just a few weeks after I started, just like they said it would.

The interview process involved two technical interviews, each lasting a couple of hours. It started with the owner giving a company overview, a tour, and then meeting the team. The first interview focused on getting to know me and discussing my past work, with some technical details. The second interview was more about how I would solve problems. The conversations were good, and I enjoyed the people. However, towards the end, the owner seemed to be setting up for an offer below my asking price. Despite my experience with about 90% of their tech stack, he suggested I lacked experience in some areas. The final offer was about $15k less than my current salary, though they mentioned bonuses and reviews for potential raises. Their insurance is also very expensive. It felt like a bit of a waste of time as I don't think they intended to meet my salary expectations from the start. Otherwise, I enjoyed meeting everyone and they seem to be using good technology.
