First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Home Depot Canada.
Sales Specialist
Applied on the internet, then HR gave me a call to screen me. After that, I went in for an interview at the store. They asked me some questions and I answered them. In the end, they made me an offer, but it was for a part-time position instead of the full-time one I applied for. I turned down the offer and then got an email rejecting my employment.
- Were there any standard questions that were asked?
Sales Specialist
I was asked some really tough questions that required knowledge of the company's policies. To make things worse, while two people were interviewing me, another employee walked in and started using the copy machine right next to us, which was super distracting during the interview.
- What would you do if an item is out of stock, a customer wants it, and someone else has already added it to their basket?
Sales Specialist
I applied online and a few days later was called in for an interview. When I got there, they asked me to fill out the same application again, which I refused. About a week later, I was contacted for a "second" interview with an assistant manager and a department supervisor. The supervisor mainly led the interview, seeming uncomfortable reading questions she clearly didn't know. We did a short role-play where I had to sell a product to the assistant manager. Some of the information provided, like 'teams stock shelves so you won't have to,' wasn't entirely accurate.
- What's your approach to dealing with a challenging customer facing an issue?
