Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Home Depot Canada.
Analyst
The HR reached out for a phone interview, and then we went through general questions and a case study. I interviewed with various teams. It was of decent difficulty, and the process was well-organized. Overall, I had a good experience during the process.
- Could you tell me a bit about yourself?

HR was super unorganized and didn't explain things well. The first call, HR was late and we had to reschedule. During the actual interview, you could hear kids screaming in the background. HR didn't even know the salary range for the job, even after I mentioned they hired for it recently. They kept pushing me for my exact salary expectations and said they wouldn't proceed without it. The second interview with the team manager and HR was fine, though it ran a bit long. The third interview with 2 team members and the manager was only scheduled for 30 minutes, which felt rushed and impersonal. The team didn't seem enthusiastic about selling the role or interested in me as a candidate (why interview if not interested?). After that, a 4th HR call happened where they claimed to have lost their notes from the first call and needed to reconfirm salary expectations, trying hard to get me to accept a lower number than I'd already stated. They also tried to get my previous salary by saying it would help me get the position. They promised to get back in a week but then ghosted me without any emails.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
- What information do you have on Home Depot?
- Could you share a recently acquired skill that has improved your productivity?
Senior Analyst
The interview process included a brief 10-minute phone screen, followed by behavioral questions from both the HR representative and the hiring manager. The actual interview portion lasted about 30 minutes from start to finish. I later withdrew my application to look for roles that were a better fit for me.
- Can you share an instance where you had to meet a deadline that seemed unrealistic?
