I applied and got a call that seemed to show real interest and set up an interview. But, it turned out to be an automated AI screening which I didn't expect and it happened at a bad time for me. Since this company hires for others, I thought I'd talk to a person. I didn't get the job, which made sense because the process was so messed up and weird. It felt unprofessional.

It started with a quick ~15 minute phone chat to go over my work history, and to get a feel for my expertise and how experienced I am. After that, I was invited for an in-person meeting with a recruiter. This meeting was about an hour long and covered quite a bit. We started with a basic review of my background, then moved on to my usual tasks. Then we went deep into my methods and how I prefer to solve problems in different situations. Next, we talked about why I'm looking for a new job, what kind of role I'm hoping for, and my salary expectations. After all that, I was told my resume would be passed on to the hiring team so they could start looking for client opportunities for me. It hasn't gone further yet, but I figure that's just a matter of time and finding the right fit.

I had my phone screenings and was asked to send my resume, which was confusing because I had sent it via email the first time they asked. I then proceeded to send it two more times to a different recruiter, and even responded in the same chain asking if they received it, to which they responded that they didn’t — despite it being still attached to the chain! I then sent it to the original recruiter via LinkedIn, only to be ghosted. I don’t mind rejection, but this was so unprofessional and disheartening, even as someone who is currently employed. So please, I’m not sure if financial literacy training is needed or if the IT team needs to figure out your filters, either way, this was not OK. Being a recruiter is tough, I get it — but people deserve at least an automated update.

I applied for the job online and right after, I got a text from an AI bot that seemed like a person's name. It was weird because I didn't know if it was gonna be text or a call. It asked me what state I live in, and once I answered, it said they couldn't move forward because they don't operate in my state. This job was listed as remote, and the description didn't say anything about location limits. They should really update their job posts to be clear about this stuff, it felt like a waste of my time. If this bot is supposed to screen people, why didn't it just check my resume or LinkedIn and send an auto-rejection instead of starting a fake chat? The bot wanted me to rate my experience, but I went over the character limit. So yeah, not gonna bother giving feedback.
