It was a short group interview, about 30 minutes, when I was still in high school. Others in the group were also in high school or just graduating. It was very relaxed, dress code-wise. Some wore jeans with a nice top, but they prefer a more natural look, not black. Think casual beach vibe for guys, ripped jeans, flannels, flip flops. 'The look' is key. I worked there for 2 years. I was offered a model position but chose impact, then switched to model after a few months. The environment is very chill and laid back, good for part-time while in school. Raises aren't common unless your work is outstanding. I started at minimum wage, my first retail job. I enjoyed it and the people because everyone was young, even the managers. Closing could be tough when the store was a mess, needing to be perfect for the morning. There's a standard for how the store and clothes should look.

There were 4 other people in the interview with me. It depends on how many people applied. I went in and we all waited for about 15 minutes inside then the manager came and took us outside the store and made us stand in a circle. It doesn't depend on who answers first. He asked one person to pick 1 out of the 2 questions then everyone got the same question. Then he flipped the page and did the same thing but to another person. He picks who goes first and he mixed it up. It's bad to go last because other people might take your answer but good because you have time to think about the question and give a better response than the other people. I was expecting a question about diversity and why I want to work there but I got nothing. I went in the store after the interview was done and one of the workers asked me if I smiled a lot because that's what he really cares about and that you have a positive attitude and seem outgoing. I think the other people had better answers because they were in school clubs and all that and they had a lot of stories to tell.

I applied for a position at the Flagship store in Soho and scheduled my interview for a Tuesday. They do pay attention to your attire, making sure you adhere to their 'look' policy. I wore a navy blue Hollister polo, Levi's jeans, and grey Vans. For guys, I'd suggest coming clean-shaven, and no earrings. For girls, no highlights, gel, or hair products – keep it natural. I was asked 4 questions after introducing myself. Remember to smile and be friendly, not robotic.
