Retail Assistant
The interview process was good and the woman I spoke with was very friendly and kind. It was mostly about the company and whether I knew about Holland & Barrett, and we discussed the position.

Retail Assistant
The interview process was a bit rushed. The interviewer asked simple questions that I could answer quickly. She asked what attracted me to apply, to talk through my past work experience, what I know about Holland and Barrett, a time I received good customer service, and what motivates me. I think I answered them well because I prepped a lot and had answers ready for potential questions. The interview was supposed to be 30 minutes but only lasted 15, which made me feel like I didn't get a fair chance and she just wanted it done. Also, when I talked about interacting with customers, she said new hires stay behind the till and don't interact, which is weird for a customer-facing role. I thought having staff who can talk to customers is important. Customers should be able to ask for help. It's our job, not just politeness. The next day, I got an email saying I don't have the right skills, making me feel like my answers and prep were pointless because she wasn't listening. I suspect maybe she already had someone in mind, but I have no proof. They also sent me the wrong address for the interview, so I had to figure out the right location. Overall, it was an unfair experience.

The interview process was quite confusing. I had an in-person interview scheduled, but the manager called to say it couldn't happen at that time and I'd get an email to reschedule. The email never came, so I contacted the branch, and they said they'd send it. After a few days without receiving it, I called again. They mentioned the manager was on holiday but assured me an email would be sent upon their return. A week later, I received an automated email thanking me for completing an interview, and that I didn't get the job, even though the interview never actually took place. When I inquired about this, I was informed they had already hired someone for the position.
