First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HoganTaylor.
Administrative Assistant
The interview process was straightforward, focusing on qualifications and expectations. It was thorough, allowing me to meet many of the people I would be directly working with, which was a positive. The staff and office environment were welcoming and friendly. I also received a complete tour of the office, which has an open-concept layout with unassigned workstations for most employees.
- Which of the company's core values, Service, Unity, or Dynamic, do you connect with the most?
Intern
It was a very casual interview, not overwhelming at all. They really value your non-profit involvement and the org culture at HoganTaylor, so make sure to show you're a genuine person and ask about that. Having an eager attitude and just being yourself is key!
- Could you share a bit about yourself?
Human Resources Director
The interview process was lengthy and felt like a loop, with the final hiring decision requiring committee consensus rather than a single person's judgment. They emphasized growth via acquisitions but offered little on organic growth strategies. Corporate culture was a frequent topic. Discussions also touched on challenges managing partners acting as individual CEOs, high turnover among junior staff, and a noted absence of compensation planning. Notably, no substantive feedback was given after a candidate was selected.
- How do you feel about growing by acquiring other companies?
- What is your take on our corporate culture?
- How would you deal with managing a lot of partners who think they are mini-CEOs?
Tax Accountant
The interview process was pretty average. I met with three different people, all at a higher level like partner or manager, in one-on-one meetings. We talked about my qualities, what I see for the future, what I expect from the job, and my thoughts on public accounting – both the good and the bad. I also got a tour of the office and had a chance to chat with some of the staff there and ask them questions.
- What are your expectations for public accounting?
