First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hofstra University.
IT Technician
It was a pretty straightforward interview, mostly basic questions and some Linux command stuff like ps, sudo, chmod, and kill. The whole thing took about 2 hours, which felt reasonable given the $20/hour pay.

Event Coordinator
Had a first round Zoom interview which was a simple screening. Then an in-person interview on-site where they asked behavioral questions.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- Could you share an instance where you faced adversity?
- Can you give an example of when you had to learn something quickly?
Associate Professor
After I applied, the university reached out a few weeks later. We did a phone interview first, which was pretty laid back and conversational. Then, I went in for an in-person interview.
- Can you tell me about your teaching experience?
- What are your main research interests?
- What's your philosophy on teaching?
Administrative Assistant
It was a really long panel interview. I felt like I was just sitting there for hours talking to the same group of people about the same stuff one after another. It would have made more sense to just meet with the whole team together.
- How do you think your skills can help with this job?
