Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HNTB.
Software Engineer
The process was not great. They start by telling you about the company, its background, and history. They also talk about cool projects they're working on that you might get to contribute to. Then they ask you a few questions, and that's pretty much it. It wasn't a very personal experience.
- Can you introduce yourself?
Software Engineer
I filled out the online application and then got a call from an HR person in Kansas City. She asked me to complete a questionnaire. After I finished that, she arranged a phone interview with some engineers from the team. About two and a half weeks after the phone interview, HR called me again to set up an in-office interview. The day after that, I received an offer that was a bit above average, but still a great offer.
- Can you tell me about your long-term career goals, specifically in 5 and 10 years?
- What unique value or skills do you possess that differentiate you from other applicants?
- Describe your past experiences working effectively within a team.
Software Engineer
I got the job through word of mouth and the process was pretty easy. The people there are good and other engineers helped me find the position. The seniors were open and clear about their opinions, and I was interviewed by 2 people. The work environment is good and people are helpful.
- What are your career aspirations for the next 4-5 years?
