First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HMSHost.
Restaurant Manager
They called me to schedule an interview for the very next day. I went in for the first interview and then a few days later they called me again to go over the at-will contract, which I signed and got hired.
- Were you familiar with kitchen procedures like dish setup, holding temperatures, and how to manage call-offs?
Manager
The interview process began with a phone interview that lasted about an hour, covering standard questions. This led to an in-person interview with the area coach. The final stage was a working interview, which felt like unpaid labor, to see if I was a good fit. After the working interview, they provided a free meal and I was sent home. No compensation was given for the working interview besides a $5 meal. I didn't like that part; I actually ruined a good shirt and pants during the interview.
- What motivates your interest in working for La Madeline?
- Can you confirm your flexibility with working different shifts and hourly schedules?
Assistant Manager
Had a phone interview that then led to a second interview at the airport. They asked questions from a standard guideline they use for every interview, same questions as always. All of these questions will be job related. Things like "tell me of a time you had to deal with an employee that had a conflict with a customer". Be quick and have a reply to every question!
- Could you describe a situation where an employee was late for work?
- Can you share an experience dealing with a customer complaint?
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with an employee that had a conflict with a customer
