Project Manager
The meeting was organised well internally. The interviewer was approachable, positive and made the process comfortable. We kept to the allocated time and the conversation was interesting throughout. I didn't need to wait long for feedback. The process was professional throughout.
- Can you share your experience with stakeholder engagement?
- What is your project management experience like?
Project Manager
It was a competency-based interview, focusing on success profiles and strengths. I was also asked questions at the end that I could ask them. I read the job description, person specification, and criteria. Overall, it was a good experience.
- Can you describe your experience with customer service?
- How would you approach communication in a project setting?
- Tell me about a situation where you had to deliver results under pressure or at pace.
Project Manager
The entire interview process spanned 5 months, which was quite disappointing. From the start, one panel member gave a disgusted look and avoided eye contact. Another panel member had such a poor internet connection that she missed two of my answers, leading to feedback from someone with apparent bias. Despite this, and one panel member missing half my questions, I was reminded of the time limit with no chance to catch up the absent panel member. At one point, the biased panel member turned off her camera, which was poorly handled and reflected badly on HMRC, especially given their promotion of diversity and inclusion.
- Describe a situation where you had to deliver a project quickly.
