Behavioral

It was a simple format, following the civil service standard. There was a 3-person panel asking behaviour and competency questions using the STAR method. They were engaged and responsive. I was allowed time for questions at the end, and an offer was made 3 days later.

Technical Behavioral Case

First, you'll do some online tests covering verbal, numerical, and situational judgement to check your reasoning, how you handle data, and make decisions. If you pass those, you'll go to a panel interview for the second stage. There, you'll answer questions about your past experiences and hypothetical situations, all related to the Civil Service Success Profiles and UX skills.

Technical Behavioral

It started with three experience questions about interpreting and using geographic data, even though that was just a nice-to-have. This was weird since it was an entry-level Admin Officer job. Then came behavioral questions on making decisions, teamwork, and getting things done, but they asked 3-4 questions per behavior instead of the usual one, plus follow-ups. They didn't warn us they were changing things up from the Civil Service standard, which was also odd for an Admin role. After that confusing part, they threw in three simple strength-based questions. The whole interview didn't follow the usual Civil Service process or match the job ad.

Behavioral Other

The interview process was chaired by a woman who seemed only appointed due to typical civil service box ticking exercises being of various minorities. Her approach was abrupt and seemed a nightmare to work alongside. When I asked her basic questions she fumbled and was uncertain how to answer the question so directed it back to me. For someone who is meant to be the lead of the division I felt she was not knowledgeable nor capable. They should have kept an eye on the interview and were charged with timekeeping without blaming the candidate. Another interviewer kept interrupting me as I was giving my answer and it would have been more sensible for the candidate to be given the opportunity to talk and then for the interview to ask further follow up questions where appropriate. Does not seem like a nice inclusive workplace which wishes to empower their employees.
