The hiring managers were alright, polite and gave results clearly. But the HR's attitude after selection was bad. They are slow to respond, and honestly, it makes you not want to work there. HRs will lie to managers about budget stuff to save themselves. I got the job and asked for an industry-standard salary, but they offered only half of what I asked for. There's a big difference between gross and net pay. HR's communication is terrible, and they'll leave you hanging even after many polite emails and follow-ups. I think Hitachi will miss out on good people because of how HR acts. They wouldn't renegotiate even when I said I was open to talking. They are trying to save the company money by not valuing good candidates. They don't seem to respect a candidate's time or communication, claiming they're busy. Yes, you might be busy, but a quick 2-minute email or call to update the candidate on their status shouldn't be too much to ask.

Applied through a job portal and after a week, HR contacted me for a phone call to inquire about my current company and tech skills. A week later, the hiring manager called and asked basic OOPS and Java 8 questions, which lasted about 10 minutes. Within two days, the first technical round was scheduled via Microsoft Teams. I was given a scenario to write Springboot code for login and saving details, adhering to MVC structure and coding standards. This was followed by questions on HTML, Java 8 (Streams, Optional), collection optimization using streams, and DB concepts. This round took an hour. After a week, the second technical discussion was scheduled with the onsite team, focusing mostly on behavioral and some basic technical questions, lasting an hour. Two weeks later, HR called for the final HR discussion and salary negotiation, after which I accepted the offer. The entire process spanned 1.5 to 2 months.

Hitachi ABB Power Grids is a 3-dimensional company, meaning your direct boss manages a local team but you also have a 'dotted line' to another supervisor managing the product/service line you're on. So you'll probably interview with 5-7 people. They could be product line folks, technical engineers, sales-people, your hiring manager, or business development managers – basically, anyone who might interact with your role. The good news is, the whole process is well-organized with an onboarding coordinator and HR recruiter to help you out. They know the job you're applying for and will have questions ready. Since Hitachi ABB is a big engineering firm, they have established procedures for everything. This is great if you like structure, though the bureaucracy can be a bit much sometimes. The people at Hitachi ABB are top-notch – accomplished, smart, and generally good to talk to.
