First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hire Heroes USA.
Veteran Transition Specialist
I applied online through LinkedIn, and they asked for a specific resume and cover letter. After I sent those, I had a quick phone call screening me with basic questions like what kind of work environment I prefer. Then, I had a formal interview. Since I don't live nearby, it was a Google Hangout interview with two people, the office manager and district manager. It was a really relaxed, conversational interview. They said I was definitely qualified and I'd hear back by a certain date, but I haven't heard anything since that date passed.
- Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Veteran Transition Specialist
The interview was great. I interviewed with the team lead and the regional lead. They asked questions about my experience and passion for veterans. They also shared their experience with the company and the organization's mission and goals. The interview flowed like a conversation with just the right amount of structure. It was very clear that they were looking for an individual that was independent, passionate about service, and that would fit well with the organization's culture.
- What did you like least about your previous work experience?
Transition Coordinator
The process was pretty straightforward, with good communication and direct conversations during the interviews. The interviewers in the first round were both professional and nice. For the second round, I met with one of the people from the first interview, and also the person who will be supervising the role.
- Describe a time you resolved a conflict with a colleague.
Transition Specialist
The interview process was very comfortable. The interviewer was interested in getting to know me and my background. Cultural fit was more important than anything else, and there were no trick questions. The interview wasn't intimidating, and there was no need to wear a suit and tie.
- What makes you want to work for this company?
