So, I had this interview with a recruiter from an agency that found me. It was like a basic screening, you know, pretty standard and helpful. After that, I spoke with the Founder. It was a bit different, more relaxed. She didn't want to go through my whole career history. Instead, she explained what she was looking for, showed me the company website, and asked for my thoughts on how to make it better. I gave her some feedback, and she was really listening. It felt like a good, challenging chat where we could both see if we'd work well together. I liked how it let us see each other's communication and thinking styles and tested my skills right then and there.

The interview was about 30 minutes and pretty informal. The interviewer wanted to check if I met the basic qualifications, confirm my bar status, and learn about my previous experience and education. They also asked for an official transcript of my last earned degree. I had to fill out a long form beforehand, and then they asked me the same questions in person, which felt a bit redundant. They mentioned that being barred wasn't a strict requirement, but it would lead to substantially higher pay. Having prior document review experience was definitely a plus.

The hiring process was conducted over the phone. Not much was involved after confirming you are active in at least one state and have no disciplinary actions against your law license. Since this is an on-call contract role, there's little notice when you're needed and not much information about scheduling for future assignments.
