So I had 6 rounds of interviews. First, I chatted with the design recruiter, and that was a great conversation where they asked some really challenging questions and also about my expectations. Then, the design hiring manager wanted to chat to understand my motivations and passion for design. After that, there was a portfolio review, and then a whiteboard challenge. I also had a call with a PM at Hingehealth, which was a cross-functional chat to see how I work with different people. Finally, I talked to the Design hiring manager again to discuss my career goals and motivations.

The hiring process was so lengthy and exhausting. Furthermore, many individuals part of the interviewing panel were clueless and clearly hadn't interviewed anyone before. Overall, it was not a great experience. Lack of transparency throughout the hiring process.

I applied online and got a response in 2 days to set up the first recruiter call. The recruiter call was great, and I heard back the next day to schedule the hiring manager call. The recruiter sent a candidate guidebook with company info, leaders, mission, etc. She also explained what to expect in the next call: a 30-minute case study presentation and what they'd be evaluating. The hiring manager call was with a director, and it also went well; they were friendly and easy to talk to. During my case study presentation, they asked follow-up questions about my process and craft. It seems they value product designers with a range of skills including research, UI, product thinking, interaction, and visual design. I was informed 3 days later that I didn't advance to the next stage. I appreciated the detailed agenda for the hiring manager call and the candidate guidebook. I also liked their promptness in updating me on my application status. I asked for feedback but didn't receive a response. Even though I didn't proceed, I really enjoyed my calls with both the recruiter and the director.
