Software Engineer
The interview process for this technical role felt pretty unstructured. It lacked a clear flow, and the questions didn't really match the job description or the skills needed. Sometimes it seemed the interviewers weren't totally prepared with a clear way to evaluate technical skills. The chat was more about their own experiences than checking my abilities. Because of this, I didn't get much chance to show off my relevant skills. Also, some functional concepts related to the role weren't fully grasped by the panel, making it tough to have a good technical discussion. Having someone more knowledgeable or specialized on the panel would help candidates better showcase their experience. All in all, the process could really use better structure, more questions relevant to the job, and better alignment between what the panel knows and what the job expects.
- Can you discuss your recent project experience?
Senior Software Engineer
I applied on LinkedIn and had my first interview in Jan 2024 for the Hilti Malaysia office. The interview process started with a call and then the first interview. There were two interviewers, one technical and one manager asking behavioral questions. They were both friendly. The interview was straightforward, without any technical tests or other extra steps. After about 2-3 days, HR called to schedule a second interview (out of a total of 4). They needed to get a slot from management in Switzerland. I waited, but heard nothing. I contacted the recruiter, who asked for more time. Almost a month later, I received an email stating they had found someone else.
- Can you tell me about your experience with Spring Boot?
- What are your thoughts on microservices architecture?
- Could you describe how you would design a microservices system?
Product Development Engineer
The process was very streamlined and well managed. Feedback was immediate. The overall process took about a month. It started with an online interview with the manager, covering both technical and behavioral questions. Then, there was an online interview with HR for behavioral questions. Finally, there were two onsite interviews: one with the manager for purely technical questions and another with the manager's manager for purely behavioral questions.
- Could you share an instance where you experienced failure?
- What do you consider your greatest accomplishment?
- Describe a conflict you encountered and how you managed it.
