So I interviewed for a Director of IT role at Hillpointe and honestly it was a terrible experience. I'd heard some bad things from a friend who used to work in marketing there about their leadership, but I wanted to see for myself. The interview really made it obvious why they have issues. First off, the CFA who is supposed to be leading IT, doesn't know anything about IT and is just awful at interviewing. My questions were ignored or misunderstood, and the actual IT guys knew way more. It was wild how out of touch the leadership seemed. And when I asked about growing the team, I was basically told to forget it. They have a tiny IT team for a huge number of users and no specialists, and they apparently don't want to change that. This lack of vision for growth was a huge red flag. One of the techs, off the record, warned me that the role is basically 24/7, 365 work because the leadership, especially the CFA, burns people out and IT leaders don't last long. It's clear why they can't keep people. The CFA's ignorance about IT management combined with this toxic work environment makes it obvious this isn't a place for growth or stability. My marketing friend also confirmed that their 'great place to work' image, promoted on LinkedIn, is a total sham. Even though I got an offer, I declined. The whole experience, plus what I heard, confirmed Hillpointe is not for me. Be careful if you're considering working there; there are much better places that actually value leadership, growth, and work-life balance.

Recruiter hit me up on LinkedIn about a phone screening, which went pretty well. Then, I had an interview with 2 Regional managers, but it felt rushed and they seemed uninterested in interviewing me. One of the managers wasn't even there or on camera. The whole process involved a lot of following up through LinkedIn and email. After two weeks of no word, I sent a final text and was told they'd moved on with another candidate. The process was really unprofessional.

The interview process was super organized. They started with some basic questions that would be easy if you'd prepped. I got my job offer the same day. I also had to complete a drug screening.

The interview process started with a phone chat with the recruiter, then a Teams meeting with the hiring manager. The recruiter seemed kinda new and the next interview had to be rescheduled twice because the recruiter and hiring manager had some miscommunication, making the process feel a bit disorganized. The screening part was simple and included a 5-panel drug test (no THC).
