& Process

It was a really straightforward and understanding interview process. I met with the manager and some colleagues. We talked through my projects and experiences. They tested my engineering skills and also emphasized the importance of personality fit. I really enjoyed it. It was an in-person interview, but the first round was online.

The first step was a chat with a lead engineer, asking typical questions for someone about to graduate, mostly focusing on capstone/projects. Then, I had 3 interviews back-to-back: first, a coding test with an associate, then discussing goals/vision with the director, and finally another chat with the manager. The last part was a coding challenge I had to present to some associates. Overall, it was pretty chill, everyone was approachable and understanding.

Applied last October and had a phone screen about two weeks later. The internal recruiter call was pretty standard, asking about my resume, background, and why I was interested. Then, three days later, I had another phone call with the team leader. We talked more about my skills and they shared more about the role. Two weeks after that, I had a video interview with 3-4 team members. They asked some basic programming questions and we discussed the daily tasks. A week later, I went in person for an interview where I presented a programming challenge they had given me. The process up to this point was smooth. They said they'd decide within the week. I followed up by phone and email in late November, and they were still deciding. After a full month of interviews and talking, I haven't heard anything back. I assume they went with someone else, which is fine. But not hearing back at all feels really disrespectful.

So the interview process had 4 stages total. First, a call with HR, then a call with a senior developer. After that, it was an onsite interview with the senior dev, 2 automation engineers, and HR. The last interview was a project I had to complete and present to about 15 senior management folks. It's a lot of work and can feel like a waste of time if you don't get the job, but everyone was super nice.
