Analyst
The interview process involved a quick screening call, an online assessment, and an interview with the hiring manager. The entire process took about 2-3 weeks. I reached the final round but was then ghosted without any feedback or explanation.
- Could you describe your teamwork style?
Marketing and Training Director
I applied in early July and had my first interview in late July. The second interview was in late August, and the third was in early September. After the third interview, I also completed a personality and skill assessment. The whole process took over 3 weeks after the final interview to get any kind of update, and then I was told the position was on hold and closed. They mentioned it might re-open later with some changes. So, the entire experience lasted more than two months. While I liked each interview and everyone was friendly and knowledgeable, the process itself was the main issue. It felt like every step confirmed I was a good fit, and they seemed keen to move forward, but they were always unsure about the timeline. For my own peace of mind, I decided to step away from the uncertainty. Being told the job was closed and they'd reach out if it reopened made me feel used, like all the time and effort I put in, including follow-ups to track progress, was for nothing. If I were in a hiring role, I wouldn't keep a candidate waiting like that across multiple conversations; it's not fair. I hope Highmark improves its hiring process. Given the turnover in the markets this role covers, a drawn-out process like this doesn't build confidence. I don't blame the people I spoke with; they seemed to be following instructions, but the overall process direction felt outdated and uninspiring.
- What potential challenges do you foresee in this position?
- Is the required travel commitment something you are comfortable with?
Sales Director
I was called for an interview. Even though I didn't have direct experience, the interviewer, who was the community manager, saw that I had the necessary skills. I was then invited for a second interview within a week, which was scheduled to be a phone call with the regional marketing and training director. Both individuals were really kind and professional. I made sure to express my strong interest in the position should it be offered. Within another week, making it two weeks total from the first contact, I received a job offer and was asked to proceed with the background and drug screening process.
- What aspects of your past roles did you find unsatisfactory?
Administrative Assistant
My interview process was pretty standard, like what you'd expect after school. It had three parts. First, a phone call to check if I was still interested and ask some stuff about my resume. The next week, I had a Zoom interview with two people. They asked about my resume and previous work. Then, I had to do an assessment testing my Microsoft Word, Excel, math, and grammar skills, plus a personality test. The last interview, the third one, was in person with my supervisor and two other department folks. This interview covered my assessment results, past experiences, skills, weaknesses, and strengths.
- Regarding your scores, are you more confident in your Word or Excel skills, and can you give examples of how you've used them in past roles?
