First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Highline College.
Instructor
The interview was easy and fast. They told me the steps ahead of time and were nice. The interviewer was professional and made me feel comfortable, it was like a chat, not a formal interview.
- Tell me about your previous experience.
- Can you share your thoughts on our college's mission and culture?
Program Assistant
It was a really positive and upbeat interview process. They tested my administrative skills and we did a quick tour of the campus, which was pretty exciting. I actually got some good feedback from them afterwards.
- How would you reply to a hypothetical email from a student's parent or guardian?
Workforce Outreach and Recruitment Specialist
HR reached out to schedule the interview. I was only given one day to prep. I had to travel on site and was required to come up with an 8 minute presentation in addition to the actual interview. It was hard to connect with the interviewers because there were 4 of them in the room with me and they took turns asking questions. I was told they wanted to "move quickly." Nearly 3 weeks later after I was the one to follow up after zero updates, I was told by HR "Sorry for the delay but you weren't chosen. [insert general rejection response]". This entire process was cruel.
- Can you share an instance where you recruited someone for an educational program?
Public Safety Officer
I submitted my application online and a few weeks later, I got a call for an interview. I then met with a committee composed of people from different parts of the campus who were involved in the hiring decision. They asked me questions about my past, what I've done, my values, and my views on diversity and inclusion.
- Can you explain what diversity means to you and share any experiences you have working with different groups of people?
