It began with a recruiter reaching out. First, there was a phone chat, then a video call with either another recruiter or the hiring manager. They asked stuff straight from my resume. But then, things got weird when we got to salary. They knew what I wanted beforehand, but then they grilled me on why it was so high, like they were trying to catch me out. It felt off, especially since my salary request makes sense for where I live. If it was too much, why even bother with the interview?
- Can you explain why you're seeking a higher salary?
- What was your thought process in determining that salary number?
- What is your present income?
Consultant
It was a pretty chill and collaborative interview process. They didn't try to trick me or hold back info. They were upfront about the process and what they expected. I had several interviews, and all the people I spoke with were great.

Recruiter
It was a bad experience. I talked to HR, and they said someone would contact me. I followed up to see if I was still being considered. The HR person said yes. After that, I never heard back from them. They ghosted me. Super unprofessional!

Had a quick 15-30 minute chat. They asked standard questions like "Tell me about X from your resume" and "Have you studied Y". Nothing unexpected. It was a good conversation with the interviewer and I didn't feel any pressure.
- Can you share an instance where you had a conflict with a colleague?
