First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hg.
Associate
It was a rather technical process, starting with a Headhunter recruiter call, followed by a first round and a case study. The whole thing took about 2 months from start to finish. The first round included a mix of motivational, past experience, and technical questions. The second round was an on-site complex case study. Finally, I met the team.
- In Round 1, we discussed motivational aspects, past deal experiences, and technical topics.
- Round 2 involved completing a complex case study on-site.
Investment Associate
We did a case study on a software company, and then had a Q&A with an employee. They asked questions about the case and my investment thesis. The case study itself wasn't too hard, but we had limited time and the questions about my hypotheses and case understanding were pretty advanced.
- Would you approve this deal?
- What is your investment thesis?
Data Assistant
I had a call with the recruiter, and then an onsite interview that lasted about 1 hour and 30 minutes with the data manager. I felt I did well, but I got the vibe that I wasn't exactly welcomed, even though I'm a pretty likeable person. What's really unprofessional is that it's been almost 3 weeks, and they've gone silent. I've reached out, but no response from anyone.
- What motivated your interest in this position?
- Can you complete a data assessment using Excel?
IT Systems Analyst
It was a two-stage interview, but I only made it to the first one. It was more of a chat about my career and resume, no curveballs or anything. The hiring manager was super nice and really enthusiastic about the company and its perks. The main issue was they weren't clear about what they wanted from me. The feedback was that I was 'explaining way too much in detail (which can be an issue in fast-paced financial environments)'. But I thought I was being prompted for more detail, so I didn't realize they preferred shorter, direct answers. Other than that, it was a decent interview, and I'd be happy to interview with them again.
- What's prompting your job search away from your current company?
- Can you describe your experience using Microsoft Office 365?
