& Process

Scheduling was simple via email. The HR recruiter made it easy. This was after an ATS/bot screened me out, so I emailed to mention my referral. The interviews were on Zoom/Teams. As often happens at companies now, I never got a response back from anyone.

The process was smooth. There were 3 interviews in total. First was a phone interview with a recruiter, who was really nice and shared a lot of company details. Second was with 2 team members who asked you to walkthrough a case study, with some follow-up questions. They were all very nice and friendly.

The interview process started with a 30-minute phone call with an executive. A week later, I had a 1-hour on-site interview. This in-person part involved 3 sets of 3 people (9 total), first professional staff, then upper management, and finally executives. It felt like a "pressure cooker" interview designed to test how I handle stress. One PM gave me a hard stare and made a snide remark about my "happy-go-lucky, self-assured personality." An executive walked me out and said I'd hear back in about a week and a half. I was rejected after three and a half weeks, with the reason being that my extensive IT PM experience in large corporations made me a poor fit for their smaller environment.

I applied online and got an email to do two tests. Then, I was emailed to set up an interview with the other directors. I replied quickly. The process felt distant until that interview. I didn't interact with HR like others did. This initial interview didn't delve into my specific experience but focused more on my approach and management capabilities in various situations. I appreciated this, though I felt they might not fully grasp how my experience applies beyond a couple of instances I could provide. There are more in-depth discussions possible about their software and projects I can relate to, so I assumed we'd cover that in the next stage. Fortunately, I advanced to the next round within a week. I really liked the person I met in the higher-level interview, but they were traveling and in a hotel, and I suspect their internet connection was unstable. After some tech issues, I felt there wasn't enough time to get to know me properly. Also, I've never had a third-round interview that was shorter than half an hour before. Then, I heard nothing for over a week, so I decided to send an email. I figured if I didn't at least inquire, it might seem like I wasn't interested. They sent me a generic rejection email a few days later. I understand it just wasn't a good fit, but I wish the process had gone a bit smoother. I also believe that any questions they might have had about me could have been addressed if there had been a chance to discuss further.
