First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hexion.
Intern
Four interview rounds happened. First was with HR. Second, with the team I would be working with. Third was the Head of HR. Fourth was the manager of the team I would be working with. It was all about seeing how interested I was in the role and how I would be to work with.
- Tell me about your interests outside of school.
- How would you handle disagreements when working in a team?
Tax Intern
I had three virtual interviews. It started with a phone call from talent acquisition, then I had a video call with some seniors from the tax department, and finally, I interviewed with the VP of Tax and a senior HR person.
- Have you used AI tools before?
EH&S Co-op
I first did an online interview using a virtual platform app where I had to answer around 6 questions. Then, there was a short prep time and I had to film myself talking for 1 to 2 minutes. Most of these questions were HR related. After passing this round, I went to the headquarters in Columbus. There, I was supposed to meet with 3 people, but one of them cancelled. They didn't just ask technical questions; it was a mix of HR and technical ones. Some HR questions were similar to the ones from the online interview. Technical questions weren't too difficult, maybe because co-op roles don't involve much complex work (like excel or communication skills).
- What motivates your interest in the Product regulatory industry?
Chemical Engineer
I applied for this trainee chemical engineer role in Iserlohn in February 2016 but heard nothing back. I then saw another trainee position in Duisburg on the company's career portal and applied on May 9th. About ten days later, I got an email inviting me to an interview in Duisburg. The interview was in one round, but it was split into four parts: an introduction to the company by a representative (which included a presentation), individual self-introductions by the three candidates, a short intellectual question asked to two candidates while one was presenting, and then four groups asked us questions in turn. The interviewers were from different countries like the USA, Holland, and Germany. After the interview, it took about ten days to hear back about the result.
- How can one make a difference?
- What actions would you take if you encountered someone unwilling to cooperate?
- How do you see yourself growing within the company?
