The process started off professionally with a video interview, then a screening interview, followed by another interview, and then two meet & greet sessions. But then, after asking for my referral info and identity documents without explaining why, they cancelled my recruitment within 2 days with no clear reason, saying the decision was made before calling my references. I get that internal decisions happen, but they should respect candidate documents. If they were going with someone else, why ask for them?

It was a good, chatty, and open interview. They were forward with feedback and it was interactive and informative. We talked about the experience and culture. It was a laid-back, flowing process. They mentioned it's a good way to get to know the company and the crew's mindset. There was a follow-up with results and notes.

A recruiter reached out via LinkedIn, which was great. I didn't get a phone screen from the company itself, which was a bummer. I flew out to Tucson, and they even paid to extend my stay so my spouse could see the area. The interview was short with clear questions. The company has a strong history and I was really excited about the role. The HR person was super professional and nice. It seemed like a tech-focused job in an old industry. The interviewers knew exactly what they were looking for, and the company seems poised for growth. No issues with scheduling or the team. They decided to go in a different direction, which was fine since I had other options. It seemed like a good company and role, and I hope they found a great fit.

The whole thing took about 3 weeks. I got a call out of the blue from the Talent Acquisition Specialist saying I got an interview with Hexagon for the Junior Software Developer position and asking if I was free on [date/time]. They didn't do any initial screening or a quick phone chat beforehand. When I got to the interview, the interviewer started by talking about the company and why they were hiring. They were pretty specific about the timeline, saying I'd know about a second interview the following week if I made the cut. Most of the questions were behavioral, asking about my past experiences, along with some technical knowledge questions. The vibe was really chill, and the interviewer made me feel comfortable sharing my thoughts. At the end, they mentioned I had a good shot at the second round, since they were picking 3 out of 15 candidates for it, which would be a deep dive into technical stuff. The interview went over by 30 minutes, lasting 1.5 hours. I felt pretty good about how it went, especially since they replied to my thank you email the next day. Sadly, I didn't get selected for the second round.
