First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Herrick Tech Labs.
Mechanical Engineer
We had some basic questions about my resume. It was tough to reach them, and there was only one interviewer. We met at the university job fair. There were long waits, and they didn't get back to me until I followed up.
- Could you describe a project you were involved in?
Software Engineer Intern
I applied online and got an email for a phone interview. I had one interview with the senior software engineer. They asked about search methods, data structures, limits to certain search algorithms, trees, and time complexities for searching them. HR and the senior SWE were nice.
- Can you explain the time complexity for searching various tree types?
Mechanical Engineer
Had a virtual interview with a few people from the mechanical team. We talked about engineering stuff, like thermals and beam bending. They also asked about my past work, what projects I owned, and how familiar I am with hardware design.
- Can you explain pipe flow and its velocity profile?
- Tell me about your previous work experiences.
- What project have you taken ownership of?
RF Engineer
First there was a phone screening, then they flew me out for an in-person interview with the RF team. There were 6 people on the team. They asked me technical questions for about 45 minutes and then gave me a tour of the lab.
- Can you list different frequency bands and their applications?
- What is the reason for using dB/dBm (log scale) for measurements?
- Describe the components of a radio and its operational principles.
