First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hennepin Healthcare.
Project Coordinator
I had an HR screen and then a Teams interview with the hiring panel. HR then asked for references. I waited two days and was told there was a 'reference policy' change, and they'd send a link to provide references. Then nothing until I asked for an update. On a Sunday, I was told they picked someone else and thanked me for wasting my time and my references' time (who were never actually contacted).

- Tell me about your expectations for a hybrid work setting.
Certified Nursing Assistant
I had a Zoom interview with a Float Pool manager that lasted about 45-60 minutes. They really dug into my past work experience and attendance record. At one point, the sun was shining right in my face on the Zoom call, so I got up to close the blinds and apologized. The manager said, "it wasn't bothering me you could have left it," which I thought was pretty rude and unnecessary. Other than that, the interview went smoothly, and I got a job offer the following week.
- Tell me about your previous jobs.
- How has your attendance been in previous roles?
- What would you do if you were in a virtual meeting and the sun was in your eyes?
Mental Health Worker
The entire hiring process spanned approximately two weeks. It began with a phone call with a recruiter where we talked about my background and my motivations for seeking employment at HCMC. Following that, I had an interview via Microsoft Teams with the hiring manager. During this meeting, we went over the specific duties and expectations associated with the role, I shared a bit about myself, and we discussed potential challenges and how I'd approach them.
- Could you introduce yourself?
- What motivates your desire to work as a mental health professional?
Performance Improvement Advisor
I had three interviews: first a prescreen with HR, then an interview with the Manager of Performance Improvement, and finally a 2-hour interview with the whole Performance Improvement Team. The team asked a lot of great questions and we had an open dialogue. The manager really empowers his team since they were asking creative, nonscripted questions based on my previous answers. The team was very diverse, including nurses, engineers, six sigma black belts, MBAs, and MHAs. The interviewers ranged from the most senior advisors to brand new ones.
- Can you present an improvement project that you have led?
