Had a call with someone who told me the basics of the job. Then I went in person to the clinic. They asked me about my experience with kids and how I've handled changing diapers before. I also watched a bit of a session for a few minutes.

It was a virtual interview. The person interviewing me was really direct about the job, explaining it well. They told me the pay and what they expected from the role right away. I got to ask questions, and they answered them thoroughly.

I had an initial phone interview that began well. The interviewer was pleasant. However, our discussion about BCBA fieldwork hours was a major disappointment. For those pursuing BCBA certification: they now only accept students from about 35 specific 'core' schools based on pass rates and other factors. This crucial detail is not mentioned in the job posting. I was told that 'some students couldn't keep up,' which felt like a dismissal of my education and school. This was particularly frustrating as I adjusted my work schedule, sacrificing an hour of pay to be available for this interview, and had previously noted my interest in obtaining BCBA fieldwork hours and that Capella was on my resume. You'd think they would have checked. In short, I gave up an hour of earnings only to be informed my school was considered inferior. I decided not to proceed because I do not want to work in a place where I cannot obtain the necessary fieldwork hours. The company's stance felt quite elitist, especially given their stated values.

The interview started with a phone screen. They asked general and situational questions about handling kids in different scenarios. Even though I have experience, they offered me their starting pay rate from the job posting. The interview itself went fine, but salary talks were rough. They wouldn't negotiate their pay, no matter my education or experience with kids.
