Senior Product Manager
So, the whole thing started with a chat with the recruiter, which was pretty good, felt friendly and all. Then I had a product talk. But honestly, that part felt way different. From the jump, this person seemed kinda checked out, not really into it. Like, maybe they didn't prep or just didn't care. I didn't move on, which is fine. But the feedback? Just this lazy, 'didn't go into enough detail.' Not helpful at all. If they wanted more, they should've dug deeper, you know? Especially with complicated product stuff that needs context. The biggest letdown was how little effort the feedback seemed to have. We put in a lot of time getting ready for these, so you'd think at least one solid, specific reason why you're not a fit would be decent. It's just more respectful and actually helps us get better.
- What about HeliosX draws you to this position?
- In your colleagues' eyes, particularly engineers and designers, how would they characterize your product approach?
- Share your experience in making a difference in past positions.
Product Manager
First, I had a 45-minute chat with the VP of Product & Innovation. They spent most of it explaining the org and we talked about my background. It felt pretty laid-back. Next up was a case study, which they said would take 4-6 hours of my time, but honestly, doing it right took way longer. It had two parts: first, a product strategy and roadmap with go-to-market and monetization plans, and second, a prioritized backlog of feature ideas with metrics, based on a real problem they have. I had to organize and present all of this in just one hour. Everyone seemed to like the presentation, and I handled the questions well. Sadly, I didn't get the job because they wanted someone with experience managing larger tech teams, which is something they could have figured out in the first chat instead of making me waste 8 hours.
- Imagine you're a Product Manager at Dermatica. Given the goals of increasing revenue per customer and doubling monthly orders within a year, and knowing that 40% of customers cancel their first-month subscription due to side effects or lack of results, what approach would you take to address this situation?
Product Lead
The process was efficient, with four interviews and one assignment completed in a single week. My HR contact was very helpful and kept everything coordinated. It started with HR, then a VP Growth interview, followed by a joint interview with the VP Growth and Head of Product, and finally an interview with the CEO.
- Tell me about your product development process.
- How do you approach prioritization?
