The interview process was very straightforward and easy. It started with a screening call with HR, followed by a call with area-specific managers. It was a very quick process and everyone I spoke with was friendly and engaged. The process included a screening and then one long call with three different people.

The interview process at Heitman was good. I talked with two HR people and then three senior people. Everyone was nice and asked good questions. I got positive feedback from HR after my final interview and they said they would make a decision soon. I didn't hear back for two weeks, so I followed up because I had another offer, but I never got an answer even after trying multiple times. I understand they might have hired someone else or decided not to hire anyone, which is fine. My only issue is that I never got an answer about my candidacy status even after going through the whole process and making it to the final round. I would have appreciated an answer either way.

I applied for the FOA role on March 31, 2022. The whole process took about 1.5 months, and I spoke to 7 people in total, but didn't get an offer. On April 19, 2022, I got an email to move forward with interviews. I had a call with the VP of HR the next day, which was mainly a phone screening to see if my experience and motivation aligned with the role, and they also shared company culture. Two days later, on April 22, 2022, the first round of interviews began. It was a series of four 30-minute 1v1 Zoom interviews, totaling 2 hours. I met with the Senior Finance Manager of FOA (US) who asked about my work experience and details of my work. Then I spoke with an AM team member (Sydney) who asked about my reasons for leaving, behavioral questions like handling communication breakdowns, and my thoughts on an investment product. After that, I interviewed with a Senior Associate of FOA (HK) who also asked about my work experience and my motivation to join Heitman. Finally, I spoke with the VP of FOA (HK), who asked about my reasons for leaving and emphasized the job role as he's the direct manager. I was also asked about my financial modeling experience. A few weeks later, on May 4, 2022, I had interviews with management, two 30-minute 1v1 sessions, total 1 hour. I spoke with the Head of Acquisitions about my latest employment and motivation, and the Head of Portfolio Management who asked situational questions about my strengths and weaknesses. After these interviews, I was given a case study to prepare an income statement, DCF model, and calculate IRR & multiples for an investment property. About 1.5 weeks later, on May 16th, I received feedback that my case study performance was weak, and I was rejected.

So, I'd suggest you steer clear of this company, honestly. I went through interviews with three different people, each session lasting about an hour. The interview format itself was fine, but how they handled things afterward was pretty terrible. They took two whole weeks to get back to me, and that only happened after I sent a follow-up email. Then, it was just a vague 'we're still thinking' type of response. People deserve a clear 'No' if they aren't seriously being considered. For context, I'm currently a CFO at a venture capital firm, so I'm glad I dodged this bullet. Always pay attention when companies show you how they operate.
