First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HEB ISD.
Campus Secretary
I interviewed with the campus principal and assistant principal in the principals office for about 30 to 45 minutes. They asked a list of general interview questions that seem to be the same for this position across districts.
- Is it important to be friends with coworkers?
- What did you like least about your prior or current job?
Bus Driver
I applied for the bus monitor job and interviewed last year, but got a letter saying they hired someone else. (This job posting is open year-round.) I applied again this year, and when the secretary called, she asked if I'd be interested in driving. I was hesitant but scheduled the interview. I have a college degree and am an excellent driver, so I figured maybe this is something I can learn. When I got there, I filled out a form and then waited a while even though no other applicants were being interviewed. Just like before, two people interviewed me in a private office. They asked 'Why do you want to work with kids?' and then grilled me like it was a corporate job. They asked what former supervisors would say about me, and in what areas co-workers would say I need to improve. They also asked how I handle conflict with other co-workers and how I would structure the bus. They seemed to be looking for experience with kids, and acted like my questions were a waste of their time. They had already made up their minds.
- How would you organize the bus?
Extended Day Teacher
The interview process went well. I interviewed with a board of directors. The position was for an after school program that the school district provided for parents that couldn't pick up their kids right after school. With this being said, the board wanted to know that I was of good moral character and that I was motivated to work with students. The questions were aimed to see if I had strong communication skills and was witty with the response.
- Tell me about your greatest weakness.
Manager
The interview process included an in-person session with multiple interviewers asking several questions. It was followed by a background check, which was intensive and involved many questions about your personal history, including criminal records, debts, and student loans.
- What makes you the right candidate for this position?
