First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Heavenly Desserts.
Team Member
They asked about my availability, my past work history, and the range of hours I'm looking for. They specifically needed someone for a closing shift and preferred candidates who live nearby.
- Can you work closing shifts until midnight?
Barista
The interview didn't have many traditional questions. The only question asked was 'tell me a little about yourself.' The rest of the time was spent giving a quick intro to the store and how to serve customers. Then, I had to greet a customer and take their order. They gave me an A3 poster explaining the customer service procedure. I learned that employees are divided into front of house and back of house roles, with part-time staff often being front of house and full-time staff back of house, though it can be the other way around. It would have been easier with more questions, and the assessment criteria weren't clear.
- Could you tell me a bit about yourself?
Marketing Executive
The interview was presented as informal, but the questions were quite challenging. I put a lot of effort into this interview and was told I would be contacted for a second stage, but I never heard back, not even a rejection. It felt like a waste of time. It seems the company expects a lot for a low salary, like working late nights and weekends.
- What unique value do you offer to the team?
- Can you share an experience where you faced pressure and how you managed it?
- Imagine I am a customer, how would you market this pen to me?
Front of House
The interview was pretty chill. They asked me to rate my coolness from 1 to 10, which was a bit random but funny. We also talked about when I can work, the usual hours, and my expectations for the role. I got offered the job about a week later.
- On a scale of 1 to 10, how cool do you think you are?
- What makes you want to take this job?
- What's your availability like?
