First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Heartland Hospice.
Certified Nursing Assistant
First there's a phone interview, then an in person one. You should hear back in like two to three weeks. After that, background check, then physical, drug test. Then when all that comes back good, they will let you know when the next class is for orientation.
- How do you cope with stressful situations?
Director of Professional Services
I applied online and a corporate recruiter from HCR Manorcare Heartland Hospice called me pretty quickly. First, I talked with the recruiter on the phone. Then, she passed me to her boss, the Regional Director of Operations, who also interviewed me by phone. Next up was the General Manager, also by phone, followed by the Regional Hospice Consultant, again, by phone. The last interview was in person with the local team at the office I was applying to. You have to do well in each interview to move on to the next one. The questions weren't too hard for me, actually easier than many other places I've interviewed.
- What motivated your interest in hospice care?
Registered Nurse Case Manager
We did a group interview where we were asked standard questions like what your strengths are, what your weaknesses are, and what experiences have prepared you for this position. Then we were asked to provide personal experiences for confrontations in the work place and how you reacted. We were also asked about any experiences in the way of direct supervision and who the subordinates were and conflicts that may have arisen. It was a panel interview.
- How do you unwind after stressful situations?
Hospice Aide
Applied for the job after seeing it advertised. Got a call back, then had an interview with the manager. I have my CNA and was offered the job. Had to wait a week for a background check, then started orientation. I accepted the offer, but mentioned I didn't have hospice experience, and the manager said I'd be oriented in the field.
