First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Heartland Express.
Billing Clerk
They scheduled the interview less than 24 hours after I applied. First, I had to fill out a paper application that basically asked for the same info as my resume, and I had to dig up references from my phone. After that, I interviewed with an HR person. That, and the other two interviews I had there, went fine. Since there were two jobs open, I talked to the managers of both departments. They all seemed nice, but the whole thing took about an hour and a half during the workday.
- What made you decide to apply for this role?
OTR Driver
We're looking for drivers with at least 2 years of experience. You'll need a CDL, a clean MVR, and a 10-year employment history. Must have a current CDL with minimal violations and a DOT Medical Card. Pre-employment drug screening is required. We do have a great training program for new drivers!

Fleet Manager
quick process. HR calls you for a phone interview, asking simple, polite, easy questions. Then they'll invite you in to meet with the terminal manager. It's straight to the point, no nonsense. They need you to fill the spot until you get fed up and quit.
- Are you willing to work until the job is done?
Process Administrator
The interview included technical questions and was conducted with a panel. It stayed within the scheduled time and focused on required skills. It was a formal interview with five people on the panel. There wasn't much conversation or an office tour.
- Can you share an instance where you had to meet a deadline?
