First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Heartland Business Systems.
Inside Sales Representative
Had 3 interviews total. First was a screening call with the recruiter, then a meeting with the hiring manager, and finally a meeting with the hiring manager and an account manager. The recruiter was great about keeping me updated. There weren't any super tough questions, but I'd say your ability to connect with people is key to success.
- Would you rather be accurate or fast?
Intern
There were 3 phases for the internship, with one being in person and the other two done online or over the phone. They asked a variety of questions about my schooling and personal life. The questions weren't overly difficult and were related to the job in general.
- Can you share details about your education?
- What is your previous work history?
- What are your views on teamwork?
Senior Consulting Engineer
I had a phone call first to set up a phone screen, which was a bit strange since they could have just done it then. The phone screen was scheduled for an hour. The person interviewing me basically asked me to go over my resume again, even though they already had it, and then asked some typical HR questions. They didn't ask any technical questions, but instead asked about how long I'd used certain technologies, which again, they could have seen on my resume. It felt like a waste of time for everyone involved.
- Can you tell me about your years of experience with x?
- What do you consider your greatest strengths?
Chief Financial Officer
I applied online and had a phone interview with the recruiter two weeks after. I felt like the recruiter was more concerned with getting the call over with. I tried asking questions about the company and all of her answers were very short; one- or two-word answers. The only time she seemed to be engaged was when I asked why the former CFO left after only months in the position. If you have no intention of even making an effort do not waste the candidates time.
- Have you applied here before?
- Do you need a work visa?
