I applied online and they sent an email to move on to the next steps. They gave me an Excel file with tasks to do, which had a time limit. After that, I had a video interview, but the interviewer's camera wasn't working so it was just a phone call. They asked about my background and some situational questions. They mentioned a 90-day probation period where I couldn't take time off. I sent a thank you email after the interview, but haven't heard back from them.

The interview process included a single in-person meeting with two lead attorneys. A lot of the discussion centered on how well you'd fit the role and the Heartland Alliance's NIJC work environment. My interviewers were great, and I thought I'd hear back. Sadly, I didn't get an offer even after expecting a follow-up. At least they sent a nice email saying the job was filled, which is way better than being left hanging. Also, being fluent in Spanish seems more crucial than what was stated in the job description, so be ready for a quick speaking test and questions about your skills in other areas.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Could you share some instances from your previous jobs where you encountered positive and negative management styles from your supervisors?
  • How do you see yourself fitting into this role and the day-to-day operations at Heartland Alliance's NIJC?
  • We need to assess your Spanish fluency, so please be ready for a short speaking evaluation and discussion about your skills in this area.

This was my third phone interview with Heartland Alliance, and they've all been bad. It starts with a recruiter who isn't in the department you're applying to doing a phone screen and asking generic questions. For this one, the recruiter was over five minutes late. She asked me about calendar management, I explained my skills, and then she asked the same question again. I told her again, and she then belittled those skills and asked how I thought they'd be relevant. I later realized the job title should have been Executive Assistant, not Executive Coordinator. I should've checked Glassdoor first, because bad phone screens and other issues seem common with this company.

I first interviewed at a job fair after applying a week prior. The interviewer seemed to think it went well and said I'd hear back. A couple of weeks later, I got an email for a second interview. I drove out and met with an employee, but the director was busy. About five minutes in, the director told me I didn't qualify, even though I do. Then she asked if I was interested in other, lower-paying positions. I declined and asked to be considered for the job I applied for. She then said there were no more FRS positions, despite me getting an email on Thursday and the positions being filled by Monday with no notification. I'd suggest more professionalism; it's unprofessional to give people false hope or try to recruit them into lower positions.
