Behavioral Technical

The interview started on time. Introductions were friendly, and they explained the process. Questions felt relevant and job-related, asked in a way that felt like a conversation, and there was enough time to answer. The interviewer paid attention, shared a lot about the job, and invited questions. It ended with clear next steps. It left a good feeling.

Behavioral Technical Case

I had an initial phone screen with the recruiter. Then the Engineering Manager just called me without any prior notice. The site interview was pretty much the same. They gave me detail directions to Lake City, but no address, no state. For a company that produces 350 custom fireplaces per line (with several lines), you'd think they'd send the address of the plant or the hotel. I showed up at the corporate address and they wanted to give me verbal directions to the plant that's over an hour away. HINT to H&HT, most companies give you all this info and a list of who you're interviewing with and their title, with the interviewing schedule. H.R. needs to take a laptop home since she doesn't come in most days till 11. The Engineering Manager was pulled away from the interview over a dozen times during the process. It looks like you could have a stress heart attack by the time you're 40. Their spending most of their time putting out fires.

Behavioral

The interviewer was late for the call. Mostly behavioral questions were asked, focusing on past experiences. The interview seemed to suggest a bias against women in the role, with repeated questions about my willingness to work on a factory floor and handle conflicts, despite my experience. One question about conflict resolution was well-received. Comments about getting dirty on the factory floor were also made, which felt like coded language indicating a belief that a woman wouldn't be a good fit. This, along with the impersonal rejection letter and the late call, raised concerns about potential discrimination.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Can you share an instance where you faced a difficult conflict on the factory floor with people and how you resolved it?

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process was really long and thorough. It took about two months to complete, and I went through five rounds. I noticed some inconsistencies in how different senior leaders answered strategic questions, which felt like a big red flag. Even though I got an offer, I turned it down because the decision-making process took too long, and there seemed to be a lack of agreement on the company's strategic direction among the leaders.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Can you share an instance of a business challenge you've encountered?
  • Describe your experience in developing your team members previously.
