It was one interview process. First, resume shortlisting, and then interview call scheduling. It was a contracting job role for the position of Software development engineer in test. First, they asked me to tell me about myself and then they started asking scenario based questions.

So I had this interview with Healthwise, which is supposed to be a nonprofit but it felt really sales-y, which was a red flag for me. A lot of their website content is gated and I couldn't even see a case study without giving them my email. My first interview was with the hiring manager, and it went well, we seemed to connect. She seemed to think I was perfect for the role, but I think the role is more SEO/sales writing and my background is more PR/media relations. Between the first and second interview, I had to do two writing assignments: one was improving article titles for SEO (making them click-baity) and the other was writing a lead-generating sales email, which I hate. The second interview was kind of awkward because my future direct reports were interviewing me, along with a director, another manager, and a web specialist. One of the interviewers also just left mid-interview because of a doctor's appointment, which was distracting and they should have told me beforehand. It made me realize I need to take a break from job searching, even though I'm employed and want a higher salary.

I had a great experience interviewing at Healthwise. The interviewers were great to work with and I enjoyed the overall process. Their goal was to try to figure out where your skills were at throughout the process. In my case there were four separate interview sessions. First an initial screening call covering my resume at a high level, why I was interested in the job, etc. Then a series of three other interviews, one covering technical capabilities in code, one covering systems architecture, and a final screen where I met the team and had a dialog with them to see if I would be a good fit. I thought the process was well thought out and enjoyed getting to meet the team and answering questions for the different interviewers. Throughout the process they did a great job of communicating next steps. They were quick to extend a generous offer after the final interview. I ended up declining the offer, but it was a difficult decision between two great offers.

So, I went through three interviews for this role. First, there was a quick phone chat with the IT Services Manager. Then, I had an in-person meeting with the IT Services Manager and another IT Support Specialist. The last interview was in-person and included six people from the IT team. I got all the way to the end, the third and final interview, and then... nothing. No response at all. It was really disappointing, especially from a company that's supposed to be so well-known around here. You'd at least expect a heads-up if they didn't pick you.
