First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HealthJoy.
Accounting Manager
I interviewed with HealthJoy in June 2023 for the Accounting Manager role. It started with a phone screen, followed by three 30-minute interviews with the hiring manager and their direct reports. The people were nice, but the interviews didn't really let me showcase my experience. They mostly just repeated information from the job description, and I think they could improve their interview training. It felt like they weren't clear on the core duties of the role and were more looking for help because the team was swamped. Salary was a big topic, and they seemed to have a budget issue, leading to multiple questions about the role's salary. If they weren't going to pay top dollar, they shouldn't waste candidate time. They asked for feedback but didn't offer any themselves and sent a generic rejection email, which felt dismissive. Even though everyone was friendly, the whole process clearly needed more work.
- Can you describe your experience with managing sales and use tax?
Implementation Analyst
I applied and was contacted the next day for the phone screen. After that, I was able to schedule my interview with the hiring manager. Following my chat with the hiring manager, I got a call 30 minutes later to set up the panel interviews. The whole thing wrapped up in less than two weeks. They all asked behavioral questions and questions to just get to know you. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and am now waiting to hear back about a potential job offer. The recruiter has been super helpful, keeping me in the loop about when the team will debrief and pick candidates they think are a good fit.
- Can you share an experience where you dealt with a challenging client and how you managed the situation?
- Would you say you consider yourself a lucky person?
Software Engineer
I agree with some of the previous comments about the recruiters. We talked about my salary expectations on the first call and landed on a figure. I went through the whole interview process. After the last interview, the recruiter contacted me to discuss the offer and compensation. She stated they couldn't meet the previously agreed-upon amount, even though I had already compromised. I requested more details about the equity component to decide if I'd accept. The recruiter promised to follow up in a few days but never did, and I got a rejection soon after. I reached out again to inquire about the rejection after the offer discussion and was ghosted. Be aware of them trying to lowball you on an offer, especially after agreeing on a number. The actual interviews were great though, I really enjoyed meeting the teams and the coding challenge.
- Could you describe how to build an API that consumes a service?
Implementation Coordinator
The whole process went pretty smoothly. First, there was a phone screen, then a Zoom interview with the department manager, and finally another Zoom interview with the rest of the team. Everyone I spoke with, from the recruiter to the team members, was really nice and made me feel comfortable. I actually applied for a Customer Success role first, but they offered it to someone else before I could get to the last interview. The recruiter then suggested me for the Implementation Coordinator position, and I got the offer the same day as my final interview. It all took about three weeks.
