Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HealthcareSource.
Software Engineer
This was a really weird experience with terrible communication. After what I thought was my final interview, the HR person I had been dealing with, who was very inconsistent with emails, contacted me again to say I still had to take the Codify test. When I asked about its role in their decision-making, they seemed unsure, just stating it was a requirement for all applicants. Later, another HR rep clarified it was a 'jumping off point' for interviews, which confused me since I'd already had mine. They also mentioned my extensive open-source code samples weren't a substitute. I considered Googling the test answers, as I assume most people do, but I was too frustrated with their process by then to bother. The actual interview wasn't technical at all; no technical questions were asked, which makes me wonder if they couldn't review my code portfolio.
- Can you describe a significant project you've worked on previously?
Software Developer
I applied in March 2016 and got a call for a basic phone screen with typical questions. Then, I had to do an online coding test with four questions, varying in difficulty. A week later, I came in for an interview with people from different company departments, covering personal experiences and software development topics. The final round involved interviews with a software developer, a senior software developer, and two managers. The people were friendly and responsive throughout the process.
- Could you list some layers found in software applications?
Software Engineer
I got contacted by a Technical Recruiter. After that, I had a 30-minute call with the hiring manager. A few days later, I was invited to an in-person group panel interview that lasted for 1 hour.
- Can you whiteboard an application design using C# classes?
- Explain SOLID principles.
- Explain DRY principles.
