Operations Role
The whole process took about 5-6 weeks, and everyone was really nice and responsive, which was a good sign for the company. However, it wasn't the most productive interview experience. Many questions were generic and only needed simple answers, which felt like a waste of time. While basic background questions are necessary, I expected more engaging questions to see what the candidates and current employees know. What was unprofessional was receiving a short automated rejection email after several rounds, instead of a personal conversation or at least a personalized rejection, especially after having in-depth discussions with the hiring team the day before. I don't want to sound bitter, and I genuinely wish the company well, but I feel their hiring process could be improved because it felt unprofessional compared to other places I've interviewed. In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't get an offer from HRS. I initially found their product interesting, but after accepting a position at a larger startup with a clearer mission and a much higher salary (nearly $60k more than my minimum request, which HRS couldn't meet), I'm very thankful I didn't end up working there. Salary negotiation was also a difficult part of the HRS interview process, though I understand it might have been due to their budget limitations. So, if you're interviewing with them, expect nice people and a process that can drag on for a few weeks, and don't be surprised if the direction is unclear, so keep looking for other opportunities, especially if you're aiming for a higher salary for similar roles.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- What motivates you to join our company?
- How did you find out about HRS?
Customer Success Manager
The entire process from application to rejection took over a month and involved three interviews. I was really interested in the role and company, but there was a significant lack of communication and closure on their side. The HR person was often unavailable or slow to respond. Three interviews felt like a lot of investment for both me and the team without even an email follow-up to let me know I wasn't selected and they went with someone else. I followed up and sent thank-you notes, expressing my continued interest, but only got a generic rejection email. In my opinion, this reflected the company culture. I had expected more, especially from the HR rep, given her social work background and how she talked about helping people and her positive comments about the team and culture.
- Tell me about how you deal with burnout.
- What's your approach to managing difficult clients?
DevOps Engineer
First there was a phone screen, then I had to do this big Docker project which they really liked, and that got me to the next stage: a team tech interview. This place felt pretty disorganized. I met with a lot of the team, and they talked about the issues they're facing and how I could help. The technical leadership seemed just okay because the team mentioned they're always putting out fires to keep the system running, and they even gave examples of mistakes they've made. The team interview took about 4 hours. At the end, HR was really unprofessional and never got back to me. I basically got ghosted after putting in a lot of work. Make sure you do your homework before committing your time.
- Given that there are poor initial design choices leading to significant technical debt and difficulties in development, how would you approach managing a fully encrypted database?
Business Development Associate
The interview process kicked off with a screening call, then progressed to an on-site interview with the team. Following the on-site, there was one final call before an offer was extended. The on-site interview felt more like a chat than a formal interview, and it was cool to talk with a team so into their work. The offices were easy to get to and the HRS team was welcoming when I arrived.
- What makes you believe you'd excel in this role?
- What draws you to HRS and the healthcare industry?
