I applied at Health Gorilla and they were pretty fast to get back to me. The thing is, their screening seems to be all AI and keywords. If your resume doesn't have the exact terms they're looking for, you're out. It felt like they missed out on good people because the AI didn't catch the details a person would. It was automated but lacked a personal touch.

The interview was pretty simple and moved fast, with three stages total. I talked to everyone on the team and the Director. All the questions were pretty typical, mostly about behavior, nothing unexpected.

So I interviewed with like 11 places fast and it was hard to keep them straight. But I really can't get over how awful the technical interviewer was. I found my draft email withdrawing my application after that round and came here to see if others had the same experience, and wow, someone did! It was almost exactly like mine. The recruiter was super nice and helpful, even called right after the technical round she attended to apologize for the interviewer. Seriously, he was the rudest person I've ever met, let alone interviewed with. He cut me off on all my solutions, pulled up a GitHub project and asked me to explain why it sucked, and no answer was right. He kept saying I was a bad developer even though he gave me no time to respond. I knew right then I wouldn't work for a company that employs people like that, and I can't believe they let him interview candidates.

I was searching for the right position for quite a while and went through multiple interview cycles at different places. Health Gorilla's process was definitely the best I'd experienced - they asked really insightful questions, and got back to me fast - and that ended up being a big reason why I chose to join Health Gorilla!
