I interviewed on-site in St. Louis, MO. When I got there, I had to fill out an application with a lot of detail about my previous employers, which I wasn't expecting since I applied online through my college's site. The interview itself was okay, not too hard. I thought the interviewer was a little awkward. They brought in a second person for part of the time. The whole process felt a bit disorganized. I didn't really like the culture or the role, so I didn't follow up, even though they said I could if I was still interested.

I went in for one interview and met with the whole group of executives. They wanted me to come prepared with a bunch of good questions. I also met the CEO, who's about to retire. It started with a VP, then I met the other VPs and the CEO. Even though they made jokes, they didn't like it when I smiled back. I had to keep a serious face the whole time. The 'VP of Finance' also interviewed me and looked at my research, but he seemed less knowledgeable than me about the stats and terms in my work. The whole time, I felt like I had the job, especially from the CEO. That should've been a big red flag. They called me the next business day with a job offer for $30,000 a year. With my Master's in Economics, I couldn't accept what I thought was the average salary of a trashman. Everyone was nice and easy to talk to, though. They asked about my experience, nothing like 'tell me about a time you disagreed with someone.'

I got a call and then an email, since I missed the call. The email was a generic form letter, but the job title was wrong (Administrative Assistant instead of Librarian), though it was correct in the subject line. I called back and set up an interview for Friday. Since Friday is casual dress day, I was way overdressed, which was a bit of a surprise. When I got there, they had me fill out a really long paper application in the oars room, asking for old jobs, salaries, and even high school info. It felt like a lot for a master's degree level job that already had my CV. Then I met the CEO, who was nice, and the VP, who was okay, and my direct supervisor. They asked me to talk about myself, my education, and my experience related to the job. It felt like all these questions could have been answered by my résumé. They also asked about my cataloging and database experience, and my research skills with reliable sources. Pretty standard stuff for the role. The interview itself was short, maybe 20 minutes, but the application took about 30. They told me to email the VP/Legal Council to let them know I was still interested, which I did. Then they called and emailed with an offer, which I signed and sent back. We sorted out my start date over email.

It was a pretty straightforward finance interview. I talked about my resume and what I can do. They also asked about my interest in the health care industry. I had to show that I know Excel, specifically VLOOKUP, macros, and pivot tables. The interview was with the VP, and the President even joined for a bit. It was a pretty relaxed process overall.
