Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Headway (NY).
Strategy Operations Associate
It would have been useful to know which team within Strategy and Operations this role was for. The hiring manager was in credentialing, and it became obvious during the interview that they expected knowledge of credentialing and provider onboarding, which weren't in the job description. The recruiting team seemed to follow a script and couldn't give much info about the role. The hiring manager didn't seem very interested from the beginning. The case study was confusing due to the lack of credentialing context. The take-home assignment itself was simple, but it was never mentioned in the interview. It seems like they want a very specific background but aren't clear about it upfront.
- Describe a situation where you had to resolve a problem with limited information.
Strategy and Operations Manager
The interview process with Headway was overall really good. They were upfront about what to expect, like the whole thing taking about 4 weeks and what each interview round would cover. I also liked that they were flexible when I was sick or had family stuff come up. I had a good time meeting everyone, and I thought the interviews were fair and interesting!
- Tell me about a project you worked on that was really complex operationally. What part did you play, and how did you ensure it was completed successfully?
Strategy and Operations Associate
This was another company that seemed to waste candidates' time. The recruiter forgot to schedule the interview after I gave my availability, and I had to send a reminder. The initial call was fine, but then they required a take-home assignment that took about 5 hours. It felt disrespectful to ask for this so early on. I received a generic rejection email and never got any feedback when I asked. These take-home assignments, especially before speaking with someone relevant, are a red flag.
- Can you give me an instance of when you've worked with data?
- What draws you to Headway?
- Describe a project that you found enjoyable.
