First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Headway (NY).
Product Manager
This was the most organized interview process I've been through. Each stage had clear expectations, and they sent materials ahead for the later stages to help with preparation. Feedback was always super fast. My specific process for a staff level role included: A recruiter screen, then a hiring manager screen. After that was a panel interview split into two parts: the first half focused on behavioral questions and a collaborative session where we worked on improving a draft PRD they sent beforehand (I'd recommend marking it up before, but you could also just talk through it live). The second half of the panel was technical, and I had to present on my previous work. After that, they were really trying to sell me on the company, which was a refreshing change from other places where it felt like I was still being evaluated in the final conversations. I got to meet two people in person because I was in NYC, but there was no pressure to do so.
- Can you elaborate on your past work experiences?
- Tell me about a time you had a disagreement in a past role.
- Reflecting on past projects, what would you change if you could do it again?
Product Manager
Multiple rounds but fair. Also a presentation. Unclear standards and scope which resulted in an offer being rescinded after the fact despite checking all the interviews and references. Save your time interviewing with them unless they give you clear view in the role you’re actually being hired for
- Can you tell me about a project that had a significant impact?
Product Manager
It started with a recruiter screen, then a Hiring Manager screen where I had to answer a behavior question or two. The first round of interviews focused on product sense and product execution questions. The second round had a few parts: 1) a take home case that the PM group would review, 2) a behavioral interview with the Ops leadership, and 3) a technical interview with the Eng leadership. Everything was pretty spaced out, about a week between each part, so it was a long process. I got an offer from another company partway through so I didn't finish round 2.
- Tell me about typical product execution and metrics Q&A.
