First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HCLSoftware.
Software Architect
It was 3 rounds. First was coding, focusing on Data Structures and Algorithms with easy to medium difficulty. The second round was also a technical interview, with two people from the same team, difficulty was easy to medium. The third round was an architectural interview, which was techno-managerial, with an Associate Director from Italy. That went smooth.
- Coding question about flipping elements in an array.
- Problem involving finding the grand sum of elements.
Sales
I had a really bad and unprofessional interview experience. After a good first chat with the recruiter, I got asked for a second interview with the hiring manager. I spent a lot of my own time over the weekend and the week before getting ready, looking into their products, competitors, and the company. But then, just five minutes before the interview was supposed to start, I got a cancellation email. The recruiter also messaged me saying they'd already picked someone else. It was super disrespectful of my time and effort to prepare, especially with such late notice. Just a heads-up, their interview process is not professional.
- Can you discuss your past roles, what you were responsible for, and the industries and markets you've worked in?
Software Engineer
This company conducted on-campus hiring at my college. The hiring process consisted of five rounds: an Online Assessment (aptitude style), a Group Discussion, two Technical Interviews, and an HR Interview. Candidates should prepare for Data Structures, OOPs concepts, and thoroughly review their projects.
- Can you walk me through your project and elaborate on it?
Lead .NET Developer
I applied for a Lead .Net Developer position at HCL Software in Oct 2023 and went through 2 interview rounds. Round 1 was an online test with 8 coding questions, mostly in C# and of medium/hard difficulty. I managed to answer 6 of them and advanced to the next round. Round 2 was quite disappointing. The interviewer, despite my 9 years of experience, started with a coding problem similar to one from the online test, asking me to write it in a notepad-like editor without using any built-in functions. I wrote the code and explained my logic, but made a few minor syntax errors because of the notepad editor. After that, the interviewer ended the interview without asking any other questions. I feel one question isn't enough to assess an experienced candidate's skills, so it felt like a waste of time.
